What were the strengths and weaknesses of your group play building? My group were all extremely involved in the process of creating the idea for our play, as well as building on it with our script and blocking. The idea we decided to work with (obsession of partying) was extremely relevant to our school society, and especially our age group as that is when this sort of thing occurs. We were not as organised with our time as we should have been, and constantly found ourselves wasting time with non-related topics and others in the class. Our play was also built around lots of characters, meaning that there were a lot of quick changes for Cate and Mackinley, which I guess was kind of hard for then. Because we only had three actors and six characters, I’m hoping that the audience didn't get too confused with who was what throughout the whole thing.
How did the audience respond to your performance? (got some personal responses from others) The audience seemed to be engaged throughout our piece, and commented on how realistic our performance aspect was. They were deeply saddened by the ending as it wasn't a happy one, but felt that it was good in portraying the collage aspect of the task. They said someone who was affected by the issue we conveyed (partying) would probably stop to question and consider what they were doing, and hopefully make decisions that would further benefit them in the future.
What would you do differently in the future and why? I feel that our piece was not collage enough, as it flowed very well from scene to scene. I would change this by staggering the time line even more, which could even help aid in a bigger suspense being fulfilled, which would have made the piece more dramatic. I would also limit the number of characters we have, so it suited the scene changes and the amount of actors we were given. In the future, I would also ask for our group to have four actors instead of three, as it might've been easier for scene changes.
