Our drama performance today was very successful in mine and my group's eyes. We were lucky, as we seemed to be the only group prepared for the performance as all of our actors were there, and we all knew our lines and had completed costumes.
Our lines were developed and annunciated clearly and properly, and no one forget any of their lines. The scene went smoothly, and the script flowed nicely, even with all the changes we had made to it. The build up of tension and suspense worked really well during the ritual, as our characters got louder and more involved in the ritual.
The modernization of the scene, using modern costumes was a good idea. This allowed us to exaggerate and build our character through what we were wearing, instead of everyone wearing white bed sheets as togas. The 'hippy' theme worked well as we wanted an era that allowed the moral of the story to be shown, and the whole 'make peace and don't fight' is very hippy-ish, as well as fitting into our play nicely. The masks were a nice feature as they looked comical and unrealistic with the yellow skin, large eyes and mis-shaped faces.
The only fault we made was not checking to see if the cup fit in the bowl prior to beginning the piece. When I realised that we wouldn't be able to fit the cup in, I lost my focus and laughed a little. This was quickly solved with an ingenious plan of Beth's - pouring some wine from the bottle.
Overall I think it was a very good performance by all of us, and I am personally happy with my own performance and my group's performance.
